Welcome to the City of Primera Stormwater Management Information page. Our purpose is to make information available to our residents with the knowledge and resources to preserve and protect clean water to our storm drains in the City of Primera and surrounding cities. The City of Primera encourages our local citizens and businesses to actively play their role in helping us with our environment and water.
What is Stormwater?
Stormwater is water runoff from precipitation that flows across the ground and pavement when it rains. The water seeps into the ground or drains into storm water drainage. These drains you see at street corners or a low points on the sides of streets. The draining water is called Stormwater runoff.
Why we need to enforce management?
We need to enforce stormwater before it becomes a PROBLEM. Stormwater becomes a problem when it picks up debris, chemicals, dirt and other pollutants as it flows or when it causes flooding. Stormwater travels through a system of pipes and roadside ditches that make up stormwater systems.
City of Primera MS4/Stormwater
Our goals of all MS4s program and the City of Primera are to reduce the discharge of pollutants from the city and to protect water quality. The City of Primera would like the citizens to remember that the water and any items that go into a storm system go directly into streams. This water is not cleaned in any way and does not go to the waste water treatment plant. We need all of our residents to assist in keeping our storm water drainage clean by doing the following:
Dispose of water properly
Clean up after your pets
Use fertilizers properly and efficiently to prevent excess runoff
Store materials that could pollute storm water indoors
If you see anyone dumping, anything that may seem questionable, please call our office at (956) 423-9654.
