LRGVDC “Road to Recycling”

The Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council has partnered with the Counties of Cameron, Hidalgo, Willacy and many cities throughout the region to help address the issue of illegal tire dumping.

The “Road to Recycling” Regional Tire Collection Project” was successfully initiated on Saturday, June 24th collecting over 7,000 tires at 30 sites across the Valley.

Besides County administered sites, special thanks to the following cities who joined the effort by hosting additional collection sites:  Alton, Harlingen, Hidalgo, La Feria, Los Indios, Lyford, Mercedes, Mission, Pharr and San Juan.

We are happy to announce that “Round 2” of the “Road to Recycling” Regional Tire Collection Project” will occur on Saturday, July 15th.

Once again, citizens of the region will be able to drop-off 4 tires per person, free of charge which will be properly disposed.

We’ve already had additional cities coordinate for Round 2!

LRGVDC and partnering communities are asking for volunteer assistance gathering and collecting tires as part of this effort.

Please help us spread the word!
